We commit to living God’s Word by understanding AND applying it to every part of our lives. We commit to listening AND following the voice of the Holy Spirit instead of the voice of man. We commit to loving AND impacting people of all ages and all races who are facing any struggle.

History of New Beginnings Assembly

Pastor Myra's Background

I had the wonderful privilege of being raised in a Christian home and have a great Godly heritage on my mother’s side of the family. I came to know the Lord as my personal Savior during Vacation Bible School as a child. I always sensed a call to ministry and everyone said “You’ll make a great pastor’s wife.” I was eager to follow the Lord and submitted my life to Him. God led me however to marry a wonderful man who was not called into fulltime ministry and so I thought “I’ll be a great lay-person” and began to work in my church in many areas . . . children, music, drama, and teaching. Eventually God opened the door for me to become the Music Director at my church and I enjoyed serving Him in that capacity. I began working on my undergraduate degree and in 1997 I graduated with a double major, one in Bible and one in Music Education.

I always enjoyed teaching and felt a strong call to teach, but I was raised that a woman should never preach or pastor. I continued to struggle with the call to teach/preach and I knew I had to fully understand the Scriptures given to me why women should not preach. As I studied each verse, in context and within the whole of Scripture, God began to show me that it was not wrong . . . it was never His heart to forbid women to teach or pastor. It has been a long and joyous journey to discover that God does use all people in His mission to share the greatest story ever told.

New Beginnings Founding

Over time I had have the privilege of serving in three different churches under five different pastors. While serving at First Assembly in Winston-Salem, God led me to acquire credentials with the Assemblies of God and the District Superintendent asked me to prayerfully consider planting a new church. After much prayer, God revealed that it was indeed His heart for me to plant a church. Then again through much prayer, He led us to Kernersville and to Glenn High School. The doors at Glenn swung wide open for us and we began there with 10 people in January, 2007. We launched to the community in February, 2007. Growth has been steady and exciting. We are now over 100 people and God has provided us a wonderful building where we can ministry to the community 24/7..

Pastor Myra's Heart as a Shepherd

to love and equip believers, so that in their communities they may operate in the fullness of the Spirit. Through His gifts and anointing they will be the heart and hands of Christ in their communities. Every member is a part of the body of Christ . . . each has a role, a part to fulfill. Christ is the head of the church, Pastor Myra is the neck. It is her role to keep the body connected to the head . . . listening to and following His lead.
